BRENTWOOD — Two people were hospitalized with major injuries Saturday after what police said were separate hit-and-run collisions. The two injured people both were pedestrians, and the collisions happened about three hours apart.
They were airlifted to a hospital trauma center. Police did not update their conditions Monday.
Police appealed to the public as they search for the people who were driving. The incidents are not considered related to one another.
The collisions happened only hours before a deadly crash in the area of Deer Valley Road and Balfour Road that killed two students from Brentwood’s Liberty High School and seriously injured two others. In a statement, police said the second of the two hit-and-run collisions happened about 9:55 p.m.
in the 800 block of Sunset Drive. Officers dispatched to the scene provided initial care to a 63-year-old woman who police said had major injuries to her arms and legs.
Police said the vehicle that hit her was gone when officers arrived, and that they did not have a description of it. The first crash happened about 6:50 p.m.
on E. 18th Street and Phillips Lane.
In that one, a 54-year-old man suffered severe leg injuries. Police said wi tnesses described the car that hit him as a gray sedan.
Police said the vehicle fled the scene. Police said they would like to find video of the incidents, especially any surveillance or dashcam footage that may have captured the collisions or the vehicles.
