Haunted houses and scary trails, ghostly campouts and pumpkin patches, trick-or-treating parties and boo bashes are among the attractions to celebrate Halloween this year. Here’s a guide to community events for all ages and scare levels and even for pets across San Diego County.
Halloween with animals: The annual Spooky Campover overnight event at Lions, Tigers and Bears animal sanctuary starts at 3 p.m. Oct.
23 and continues to Oct. 24.
It includes camping next to rescued animals, haunted house tours, costume contest, pumpkin carving, games and campfire with s’mores and songs. Wear your costume.
Tickets are $80 for ages 13 and older; $50 for members; $55 for kids ages 3-12; $35 for members. Minimum age is 3.
A Pumpkin Bash with rescued animals eating their pumpkin treats starts at 10 a.m. Oct.
24, which is included in the campover. Pumpkin Bash without campover is $15-$60.

Pumpkin train rides: The Campo Railroad Museum is offering its annual Pumpkin Express Halloween Celebration on Saturdays and Sundays, Oct. 24, 25, and 31.
Ride decorated vintage 1920s rail cars through the San Diego County mountains and enjoy the fall-themed decor at the historic Campo Depot. Children are encouraged to dress up for the contest costume and to participate in the Pumpkin Scavenger Hunt for treats and prizes!
Trains leave at 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $49.95-$64.95 and include one cocktail, a journey through the haunted attraction, The Lost Train of Dr. Deadtrack, and entrance to the Karnevil afterparty, featuring live music, food, drinks, and vendors.

to noon Oct. 17 in the upper-level courtyard at Plaza Paseo Real, 6941 El Camino Real.
Dress up in your favorite costume. Brick-or-Treat: LEGOLAND California Resort holds its Brick or Treat Halloween celebration on weekends through Nov.
1 with the new Brick or Treat Street, entertainment, live shows, trick-or-treating, LEGO characters, costume contests, themed rides and interactive builds. As part of its Halloween season celebration, there will be costumed characters, décor and seasonal treats daily.

Sunday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Fridays and Saturdays in October at 1050 Cannon Road. Admission is $20-$25; plus fees for activities.

Pumpkin Plunge: Floating Pumpkin Patch, bounce house and games will be featured from 5 to 8 p.m. Oct.
17 at the Alga Norte Aquatics Center, 6565 Al icante Road. Also, the Splash Pad will be open.
Food will be sold. Tickets are $15; free for kids ages 3 and younger, but they still need to be registered.

Halloween Spooktacular: Trick-or-treating in costumes, carnival games, spooky characters and live music from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct.
31 at The Forum Carlsbad, 1923 Calle Barcelona. Children receive a bag to collect candy, while supplies last.

Trick-or-treating at Piazza: Children can wear their costumes and get a free Halloween bucket (while supplies last) to use for trick-or-treating from noon to 3 p.m. Oct.
17 at Piazza Carmel, 810 Valley Centre Drive. There will be a free magic show and appearance by FrankenStilt.
Halloween at Sesame Place: The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular runs through Nov. 1 at Sesame Place San Diego, 2052 Entertainment Circle.
Highlights include the new Monster Mayhem Game Show, trick-or-treating, Halloween Costume Parade; Sesame Scarecrow Scavenger Hunt and Halloween Dine with Elmo, along with Hall oween Storytime and all the rides and water slides. A Halloween Costume Contest is on Oct.

“A Haunting in Venice”: Halloween-themed gondola cruises start at 4 p.m. Oct.
28-31, run by The Gondola Company. The 50-minute gondola rides through the canals of Coronado Cays feature phantom gondoliers, soft organ music and spooky-but-not-scary vibes.

Mainstreet Goes Ghostly: Wear your costume and stroll throughout Coronado’s central downtown from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Oct.
31. Businesses will welcome trick-or-treaters during the event hosted by Coronado Mainstreet.

to 7 p.m. Sundays through Oct.

Scream Zone closed: The Scream Zone at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is not open this year. The event website suggests folks visit The Haunted Trail of Balboa Park.

Oct. 30 at Parkway Plaza shopping center.

Scare Trail: Haunted Amusement Park with one-mile haunted trail featuring a haunted manor, spinning vortex tunnel, graveyard and witch’s cottage along with a rollercoaster creeper, spider’s cave and 3-D black light bumper cars among other spooky attractions. Tickets are $25-$35.
Opens at 7 p.m. Fridays through Sundays and certain other days through Nov.
