2 drivers killed in wrong-way crash on 241 Freeway in Lake Forest

Two drivers were killed and a girl was hospitalized after a head-on collision caused by a wrong-way driver on the 241 Freeway in Lake Forest last week, authorities said. The crash occurred about 10:35 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11 in the southbound lanes just north of Lake Forest Drive, California Highway Patrol Officer Joseph Rodriguez said. A woman driving a Honda SUV was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when the SUV slammed into a BMW sedan, being driven by a man, Rodriguez said. A 7-year-old girl was a passenger in the BMW. The drivers were identified by the coroner as Norma Herrera, 57, of Irvine and Joseph Kyle Massey, 39, of Rancho Santa Margarita.
